The sun setting over distant mountains beyond a wide river, framed by leaves and treetops.

The more we talk about dying, the less we fear it.

I was a teacher before I was a doula, and teaching is still at the heart of what I do. So much of the fear around dying comes from not knowing what to expect. These are the ways we can learn together.

Talks in our community

Occasionally, I give talks in our community about dying well. Come meet me and ask anything.

Wednesday, November 18, 4–6 pm

End of Life Choices / Medical Aid in Dying Panel Discussion
Starr Library, Community Room, 68 West Market Street, Rhinebeck, New York

A presentation and panel on Medical Aid in Dying, now an option in New York: how it brings autonomy to a person’s end of life, the steps in the process, the support that matters, and the resources becoming available. There will be time for your questions.

With Nathalie Chara (End of Life Choices New York), Ingrid Forte (Hudson Valley Hospice House), and me. Moderated by Ruven Liebhaber.

If your library or group would like a talk, write to me at AtHomeWithErikaRBK@gmail.com.

Workshops for your staff or members

Senior communities, congregations, employers, and professional groups can bring me in for a workshop on end-of-life planning, being with someone who is dying, and supporting people through grief.

Write to me at AtHomeWithErikaRBK@gmail.com and we’ll shape it to your group.

Let’s sit down together.

It starts with a free consultation by phone, video, or in person. Then we sit down at your kitchen table and talk about what’s really happening and what would help.

(240) 925-5145AtHomeWithErikaRBK@gmail.com

The first consultation is free. The first visit is $250, and it counts toward anything more we do together.
